COMMUNION AT HOME

THE SACRAMENTS

The sacraments, Baptism, and Communion, are gifts from God given to the church. The church entrusts the administration of these sacred gifts to their pastors. The Lord’s Supper will be celebrated as part of an online worship experience for the entire congregation worshiping from their homes every first Sunday of each month.

We encourage you to partake if it is your heart's desire to do so in spite of virtual attendance and/or as often as you see fit.

HOW TO PREPARE FOR THE LORD’S SUPPER

Gather the items that you will need to celebrate the Lord’s Supper! We understand you may not have what we'd use in the church but use whatever you have in your home. The essential items are:

Wine or Grape Juice
Bread or crackers

SELF EXAMINATION

We believe Communion is a sacred ceremony whereby Jesus Christ offers His true body and blood in and with the bread and wine. Christ invites us to join Him around His family table to receive forgiveness for our sins and the strengthening of our faith. If you are a Christian we welcome you to the Lord’s Table.

First Corinthians, Chapter 11, states: “Examine yourselves, and only then eat of the bread and drink of the cup. For all who eat and drink without discerning the body, eat and drink judgment upon themselves.” Therefore, we ask you to examine yourself before taking the Lord’s Supper. Consider these questions:

Do I believe that Jesus Christ is my Savior?
Do I realize that I am a sinner?
Do I believe that with the bread and wine I am receiving is symbolic of Christ’s body and blood for the forgiveness of my sins?

HOW IT WORKS

1. Follow along with Pastor Alexander as he guides the church

2. If you desire to celebrate the Lord's Supper without attending our virtual service, we you to pray an acknowledge our Savior's sacrifice. If you'd like, say these words out loud:

Our Lord Jesus Christ, on the night when he was betrayed, took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it, and gave it to his disciples saying, “Take and eat. This is my body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.”
In the same way also, he took the cup after supper, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, saying, “Drink of it, all of you. This cup is the new covenant in my blood which is shed for you for the forgiveness of sins. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.”

3. After you have shared these words, we invite you to prepare your elements for the final acknowledgment. If you are facilitating the ceremony for yourself and others:
• As you distribute the bread, say to each person, "Take and eat; this is the body of Christ given for you."
• After they have received the bread, offer them the wine or juice, saying, "Take and drink; this is the blood of Christ shed for you."
